The Sound Art Forum actions focused on the analysis of “prohibited acts” in art connected with sound practices. The subject of the works will be determined by creative approaches and attitudes to notions such as the limits of genres and the primacy of creative advancement. The introduction to the actions will be provided by a collection of texts based on the history of the 20th-century avant-gardes and pertaining to the concept of concert music arranged as subsequent attempts at shaping new paradigms – Harry Bertoia’s “sound sculpture”, Luigi Nono’s “stage illusions”, Mauricio Kagel’s “instrumental theatre”, and Peter Ablinger’s “sound perception study”. In a series of four sound installations, each of these notions will be subject to analysis in order to identify the boundaries enabling us to outline the alternative paths of music thought development. The sound sculpture prepared to mark the 100th anniversary of Henry Bertoia’s birth will be the starting point. The process of making the sculpture will emphasise the uniqueness of Bertoia’s practice stemming from applying project thinking to sound experiments. It is all the more important in an age of ubiquitous digitalisation and standardisation of sound reproduction techniques. What interests us is not only giving testimony to the phenomenon of Bertoia’s practice but also confronting it with the questionable innovativeness of contemporary ideas about sound, resulting from the
standardised digital techniques of sound processing. The invited artists
depart from Pierre Schaeffer’s concepts of sound objects and acousmatic listening, which dominate the discourse on experimental music, in favour of the physicality of sound and the connections between its texture and acoustic characteristics, with the instrument as a physical object.

W ramach działań sceny dźwiękowej 13. edycji Przeglądu Sztuki SURVIVAL analizowane będą zjawiska „czynów zabronionych” w twórczości związanej z materią dźwiękową. Linia tematyczna prac będzie wyznaczona przez zagadnienia postaw i praktyk twórczych względem pojęć: granic gatunkowych oraz prymatu postępu twórczego. Wstępem do działań będzie zbiór tekstów bazujących na historii XX-wiecznych awangard odnoszących się do koncepcji muzyki scenicznej jako historii kolejnych prób stworzenia nowych paradygmatów – rzeźby dźwiękowej ” Harry’ego Bertoi , „iluzji scenicznej” Luigiego Nono, „teatru instrumentalnego” Mauricio Kagela
i „studium percepcji dźwięku” Petera Ablingera. W cyklu 4 instalacji dźwiękowych każde z tych pojęć będzie poddane analizie i próbie znalezienia ram i granic pozwalających wyznaczyć alternatywne drogi rozwoju myśli muzycznej.

Punktem wyjścia stanie się rzeźba dźwiękowa przygotowana z oka-
zji obchodów 100-lecia Harry’ego Bertoi. Proces tworzenia rzeźby będzie zwracał uwagę na fenomen twórczości Bertoi polegający na zastosowaniu myślenia projektowego do praktyki poszukiwań dźwiękowych. Jest to szczególnie istotne w dobie powszechnej cyfryzacji i standaryzacji technologii reprodukcji dźwięku. Interesuje nas nie tylko oddanie fenomenu twórczości Bertoi, ale również skonfrontowanie jej z dyskusyjną innowacyjnością współczesnej myśli dźwiękowej wynikającej z powszechnej cyfryzacji i standaryzacji technik przetwarzania dźwięku. Zaproszeni artyści odchodzą od dominujących w dyskursie muzyce eksperymentalnej koncepcjach obiektów dźwiękowych Pierre Schaeffera i słuchania akuzmatycznego w stronę fizyczności dźwięku, związku jego faktury i charakterystyki akustycznej z przedmiotem instrumentu.
